James Arthur has lashed out festival organisers over snobbery. The X Factor star believes his TV reality past holds him back from being booked.

X Factor winning singer songwriter James Arthur has publicly hit out at the organisers of Leeds, Reading AND Glastonbury Festival, accusing bookers of “Snobbery”.

Speaking on the ITV morning chat-show Lorraine, the host Lorraine Kelly asked him whether he had ambitions to headline major UK festivals.

His somewhat bitter response was: “I came from being in rock bands and a frontman in being in rock bands so my dream is to get on those stages at Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever get that chance and I’ve got to come to terms with that. I don’t think it is because of my music – it lends itself to those things.

“Unfortunately, there’s a touch of snobbery. Maybe I have got to get another No.1 album.”

Has James Arthur got a point, or is he overreacting?

There’s no doubting that James Arthur is still a big act, regardless of his reality television past, the award-winning artist has a large UK tour with dates at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Manchester Arena and The 02.

Credit where it’s due, he could quite easily fit the bill for any of these major UK festivals, however he’s certainly not doing himself any favours right now.

Is this all just a nasty case of sour grapes, or has James Arthur got a legitimate point here? Would you have him at Reading, Leeds or Glastonbury? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
